Among other functions, dynamometers are used for the verification of testing machines used for the determination of the resistance of materials and products. These machines must comply with standardized criteria, in particular regarding the level of applied forces. The field of metallic materials is covered by ISO 7500-1 and ISO 7500-2 international standards.
ISO 7500-1 describes the verification and calibration of the force measurement system for uniaxial static testing machines in tension/compression of metallic materials. Such verification is performed by means of tension and/or compression load cells previously calibrated and classified according to ISO 376 Standard.
ISO 7500-2 describes the verification of force applied by uniaxial creep testing machines in tension of metallic materials. Such verification is performed by means of tension load cells previously calibrated and classified according to ISO 376 Standard.
Even if ISO 7500-1 and 2 Standards apply to metallic materials, their use is often extended to other types of materials in cases where no specific applicable standard has been issued.
